Bus Trip with my BFF

OMG, what a great way to spend the day! Grab your best friend, your best sister, or your best mother, daughter or niece for a day of crafts, quilts and fun!

We will travel 1^st to Enderlin to Stone Ridge Studio, for their 2^nd annual outdoor Quilt Show and then on to Fort Ransom for their 44^th Annual Fall Craft Festival. The motor coach will leave from Comforts of Home in Jamestown, ND at 8:30. The cost is $20, this will cover your bus fee and admission to the show. You will be on your own for lunch, with many different vendor choices at Fort Ransom. You must pay in advance to hold your seat, tickets are not refundable.

When we get back, we will have door prizes, plus an exclusive Comforts of Home BFF Savings sale, that day only! Sale is open to Bus participants only.

It is hard to see but there are little pins on the edge for the next step, it measures 16x16 and she is going to make a runner. you can do scrappy, crib , lap, twin, .....QUILTING IN PROGRESS! Meet my SWEET granddaughter. She is a month old on this pic. She was born on Dec. 8th.
She and her mom , (Our daughter ) got to stay with us this past week. I even had her here at the shop trying to teach her already to become a quilter. Her name is Rayna Joy.

Some of you may have gotten to know her. She loved to quilt. She taught some classes here at Comforts of Home.
She was the first one to have a quilt shop in down town Jamestown ND in 1991. Some od you should remember her. Many of us learned alot of quilt talk from her. I have some fabric in my stash left from her shop. She always said it won't get spoiled. Correen lost the battle with cancer on Jan 7th., and she was sewing just days before that. Correen , always my quilting friend, I will miss you.
COH is behind in many things but we do have some classes ready to start taking Jan 26. which is the beginner class. It is the next 3 wednesdays. Call for more info.

Arrived in time for Christmas Joy. My 1st grandbaby. Her name is Rayna Joy. She was born in December 8th at 3;39 am . I got to be in the delivery room. OMG. It was wonderful. My daughter did great. What a bundle of Joy in time for Christmas. She weighed 7# 9oz. This was taken about 10 hours after being born. She looks like daddy. Have a great day. I hope to see more of her next week and will give you an update then.

This says it all. ! Make your life simple , funny, crazy, beautiful....it is your choice. This kit is 16x30 and going fast. Time is also going very fast. Soon June 1. Soon the NorthDakota Shop Hop across the state. 16 shops will be doing this shop hop. Each person with a passport has a chance at winning. Go for it. We at Comforts of Home will be taking a bus to SOME of the shops. 8 of them. Hop aboard our bus and head to them and the Medora Musical. Yes we still have some openings so call us. You will go to quilt shops in the following towns . Bismarck , Hettinger, Dickinson Beulah , Hazen , Garrison, Velva and Comforts of Home. You will stay over night in Medora and go to the musical. It will be great fun. We leave at 7:30 on June 24 thur and return on June 25 in the evening. So you will have all the other days between June 16 and June 30 to get to the other shops and get your passport stamped. We will also be doing some other things during that time, so we should have fun.

Do the Twist!!! We have had so much fun these past couple months with the Twister and little Twister rulers. You take 5" squares or 10"" squares and you can even twist it into a great tree skirt, made by Deb K. She has also made some table toppers, it is wonderful for the Layered Cakes or the 5inch Charm Packs. I have had a request for a kit so we will be working on this. Susan D has also made a baby quilt from bright flannels that is so cute.

When we build a quilt we use fabric. When we build an addition we use materials. You can find both this summer at Comforts of Home Quilting. You see we have decided to add a class room to our small little shop and another space that can be rented out to another business. Well guess what , we have it rented out to Greenwood Plumbing and Heating. Imagine that, that would be my husband. You can see the concrete guy putting in brick for the foundation. Just like cutting the pieces to a quilt. And you thought quilting was messy, Do I have news for you---and we just got started. Come see us.

It is a 22x50 runner called Cock-Tails. We just got these charm packs in and already Edi has made this runner . the runner didn't call for any prairie points but Edi used all the charm pack that way. Lovely brown focus print to go with it she used. She uses the pattern as a guide and created a nice runner. Come and see these fabrics soon, We also have layered cakes with these. It's called Fudge Swirl in the book Quilt Cravings by Gathering Friends. Doesn't it remind you of March , swirling and swirling trying to get your kite up in the air? It is hot off the sewing machine and going to go to Darcie to be quilted . These are Timber Creek flannels designed by Holly Taylor for Moda. These flannels are wonderful to touch. HOME SWEET HOME from the Gathering Friends Book, called Quilt Cravings. This is FLANNEL our favorite at Comforts of Home Quilting here in Jamestown ND. We sold out of this kit last August already (I believe it was ) so I never got it posted before it was time to take it to its owner and put up a new sample. If you got one of those kits I hope that this will help you remember. That is one nice thing about having a blog you can go back into the archieve and see lots of quilts. (that's if I get it posted--as you see I'm not always good about doing that.) We are always working on new samples esp. for you, Do hope you can come and visit us in Jamestown or give us a call.
